Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Open Heavens Church - Aurora based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
Christ
The sinless one - He is the lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. He is God manifested as man in the flesh. Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born by a virgin girl. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. God is our Creator and Lord.
Holy Spirit
The third person of the trinity and the revelator of all truth. It is the spirit that quickens, the flesh profits nothing; but the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life.
Baptism
Jesus Christ gave his church the ordinances of baptism and communion. Acts 10:5 - For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
Communion
" And as they were eating,Jesus took bread and blessed it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, take eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, drink ye all of it". Matthew 26:26-27
Salvation
Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.
The Church
Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.
